Which immigration matters do we handle?
- Temporary resident (visitor) visas and super visas
- Study permits and work permits
- Permanent residence applications
- Family sponsorship
- Citizenship applications
- Passports
- Responses to procedural fairness letters
- Federal Court judicial review of refusals
My application was refused — what are my options?
Depending on the decision, the options may include reapplying with a stronger application, an appeal to the Immigration Appeal Division (for some sponsorship and removal decisions), or an application for leave and judicial review in the Federal Court of Canada. Judicial review asks the court whether the decision was reasonable and fair; it must be started within 15 days of learning of a decision made in Canada, or 60 days for a decision made outside Canada.

Lawyer or immigration consultant — who should I use?
Both Ontario lawyers and Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultants (RCICs) licensed by the College of Immigration and Citizenship Consultants can represent you before IRCC. Only a lawyer can represent you in the Federal Court. At Maks Law Firm you have both: our lawyers and Ayad Al Basha, an RCIC-IRB, work on immigration files together.
